Jeremy Lock wins Military Photographer of the Year

     FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. -- The winners of the 2002 Military Photographer of the Year (MILPHOG) competition, held March 12 -13, 2003 at the Defense Information School, Fort George G. Meade, Md., have been announced.
     The 2002 Military Photographer of the Year is Air Force Staff Sgt. Jeremy T. Lock, from the 1st Combat Camera Squadron, Charleston Air Force Base, S.C.
     The second place Military Photographer of the Year is Navy Photographer's Mate 1st Class Aaron Ansarov, Fleet Combat Camera Pacific, San Diego and the third place winner is Air Force Staff Sgt. Jeffrey B. Allen, Torch Magazine, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.
     The annual MILPHOG Awards Program is designed to recognize and reward military photographers and videographers for their achievements in furthering the objectives of photography within the military.  This competition program operates under the aegis of the assistant secretary of defense for public affairs and is administered by the Defense Information School with cooperation from national and local professional organizations.
     Three hundred-eight photographers, videographers, journalists and photojournalists submitted 2,321 entries in nine still categories and 72 entries in seven motion media categories.  Participants by service were Air Force - 146; Navy - 87; Marine Corps - 48; Army - 20 and Coast Guard - 6.
